The rules for using Costr.

Last updated: May 21, 2026

01

The service

Costr is a proxy and analytics layer for AI provider APIs. It records metadata about your API calls — token counts, costs, model, timestamp — and surfaces that data in a dashboard. Costr does not store prompt text or response bodies.

Using Costr means routing your AI API calls through costr.dev/api/proxy/<provider> (e.g. costr.dev/api/proxy/openai) instead of calling providers directly. Costr passes each request through and returns the provider's response unchanged.

02

Your account

  • You must provide a valid email address and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • Accounts are for a single organization. Do not share credentials across organizations.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
03

Acceptable use

You may not use Costr to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Transmit malware, spam, or unauthorized advertising
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or interfere with Costr's infrastructure
  • Resell access to Costr's proxy without written permission
  • Circumvent rate limits or billing controls

Costr reserves the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

04

Billing

  • Free tier — no charge. Limited to $25/month of tracked spend (the AI cost Costr records in your dashboard) and 7-day log retention. Your AI calls still flow normally to your provider regardless — Costr never blocks them.
  • Pro and Team tiers — billed monthly via Stripe. Subscription renews automatically unless canceled.
  • Cancellation — cancel anytime from Settings. Access continues through the end of the billing period.
  • Refunds — not issued for partial billing periods. Contact support@costr.dev for billing disputes.
05

Provider keys

When you add an AI provider API key to Costr, you authorize Costr to use that key to forward your requests to the respective provider on your behalf.

  • Keys are stored encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Keys are never logged, exposed in responses, or shared with third parties beyond the provider they belong to.
  • You can remove a key at any time from Settings. Removal takes effect immediately.
06

Uptime

Costr targets 99.9% monthly uptime for the proxy endpoint. Scheduled maintenance is announced in advance via status page and email.

Downtime caused by upstream providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) does not count against Costr's uptime commitment.

07

Termination

  • By you — delete your account from Settings at any time. All data is removed within 7 days.
  • By Costr — Costr may terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
  • Service shutdown — if Costr shuts down, 30 days' notice will be provided by email.
08

Liability

Costr is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Costr is not liable for:

  • Costs incurred through your AI provider accounts
  • Data loss resulting from account deletion or service interruption
  • Actions taken by AI providers (rate limiting, key revocation, policy changes)
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Costr's total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim.

09

Changes

These terms may be updated. Material changes are announced by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
